What We Do

The items and projects that we have spent funds on so far are listed below:

  • 4 artificial larynxes for patients with head and neck cancer.
  • Half the cost of a Sentinel Node Probe which is used in the treatment of breast cancer. This instrument will benefit the 200 patients treated with breast cancer each year at the hospital. The sophisticated equipment allows a biopsy to be carried out to evaluate the appropriate treatment. Ian Laidlaw, Consultant Surgeon, said: “The surgeons at FPH have developed skills in this valuable technique and the new equipment ensures that all patients requiring the sentinel node biopsy can have it”
  • Helping to fund a Palliative Care Reflexology Service for cancer patients.
  • The purchase of a Blood-analysing machine for the use on patients suffering from leukemia and lymphatic cancers.
  • The provision of an Ultrasound Probe which will enable early and more specific diagnosis of prostate cancer.
Provision of a Scanner for patients undergoing chemotherapy in the Haematology Day Unit.
  • The purchase of a Pressure-relieving seating system and 2 syringe drivers for patients at the Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice.
  • Purchase of a Blood Analyser for the Haematology Unit at Frimley Park Hospital that will dramatically reduce the wait time for blood tests for patients waiting for chemotherapy.
