Frimley Green Carnival

2024’s Frimley Green Carnival on July 14th was themed “80 Days Around The World” and was enjoyed by the many who attended. The colourful event raised £427 for KatCanDo.

24 Hour Charity Spin

From June 28-29 2024 a 24 hour charity spin took place at the Village Gym Farnborough, led by Greg Coles. An excellent turnout and strong encouragement (including from Labour’s Alex Baker) resulted in £1500 raised. More about the event here.

Presentation to St Luke’s

On April 22nd 2024, KatCanDo presented the Royal Surrey Charity with £4464 for an Abdominal / Thoracic Motion Control System. It is used in radiotherapy and radiological procedures to reduce the movement of organs by inducing shallow breathing, thus increasing accuracy.

Presentation to Christopher’s Hospice

On April 2nd 2024, KatCanDo presented the Hospice with £3191 for a reclining shower chair. Last year, KatCanDo presented £3950 for the purchase of two Cuddle Cots.

Penguin Therapy at Frimley Park Hospital
On March 14th 2024, volunteers organised a therapy session with two penguins in the KatCanDo garden at Frimley Park Hospital.

Walking the Wainwrights
In 2023 Judith Griffith and her daughter Beth climbed all of the 214 Wainwright peaks and raised over £3000 for KatCanDo.

Presentation to Frimley Park Hospital

In October 2023, KatCanDo contributed more than £6,000 towards furnishing the oncology rooms of the newly refurbished children’s ward at Frimley Park Hospital. Sir Andrew Morris, chief executive of Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust, was joined by ten-year-old inpatient Tegan Comber who cut the ribbon during the opening ceremony.

2016 Presentations

Funds for St Michaels Hospice (November). KatCanDo has agreed to purchase specialist chairs to help patients at the hospice be more mobile.

KatCanDo has agreed to donate £2500 to the Frimley Park Hospital Palliative Care Team to continue to provide one Complimentary Therapist for a further year (September)

A cheque was presented to the Royal Surrey Hospital for £ 1 ,OOO for the purchase of a bladder scanner and ECG machine (September)

2016 Sporting feats

Ross Davison set himself a target of running 12 half-marathons during 2016 (1 a month) to raise funds for KatCanDo. He completed his 12th half-marathon on Sunday, 27th November.

Rick Mansell runs in the March Surrey half and Team Brightlight runs in Fleet half to raise funds for KatCanDo.

2016 Quiz Nights

A great night was had in March by 100 ‘quizzers’ at the Heatherside Community Centre. A curry meal was enjoyed and the evening raised over £700.

Another enjoyable Quiz Night was held in November at the Deepcut Community Centre. Quiz master Greg kept us on our toes with a variety of questions at the Quiz and a tasty supper was provided by the Kevany family.

2016 Fund Raising

Several hardy ‘Friends Of KatCanDo’ joined with committee members for an all day collection outside Waitrose at Bagshot just before Christmas. Thanks to the wonderful generosity of Waitrose customers we raised over £800.

November’s Bridge Drive was a very successful afternoon with many ‘bridge fanatics’ battling it out and feasting on delicious tea and cakes. With £ for £ matching from Barclays over £500 was raised. Many thanks to organiser Anne Brown

2016 Donations

Frimley Green Carnival Committee awarded KatCanDo £250 .

The Committee of the Surrey Heath Show awarded KatCanDo £500.

In September, Trustees Kendra and Alan where warmly welcomed at the BNI Camberley breakfast meeting and presented with a cheque for nearly £600.

Brightlight Theatre donated from their May and September productions.

WI Afternoon Tea (June)

Presentation to Frimley Park Hospital

In February 2015, KatCanDo presented a portable Cystoscope to the Urology Department at Frimley Park Hospital. This equipment is used in the detection of bladder cancer and, being portable, will also be used at local clinics in Aldershot, Farnborough and Fleet.

In January 2015, KatCanDo presented a cheque for £12,000 raised at the Starlight Autumn Ball held at the Wentworth Club. The funds have been used to purchase a Neoprobe Gamma Detection Unit for the new Breast Care Unit at Frimley Park Hospital for local cancer patients.

Presentation to Christopher’s Hospice

In April 2013, Alan & Pat Mowat of KatCanDo presented £3300 to the hospice for the purchase of a Regis Reclining Chair.
