KATCANDO ANNUAL REPORT 2022-2023
Here we are in our 19th year.
In this full year following the Pandemic we are back to our fund raising events. Financially we have continued to raise large amounts of money and improve the profile of KatCanDo.
Our fundraising efforts – during the year 2022-2023 – have consisted of stalls at the Surrey Heath Show including car park “attendants”, Hartley Wintney Fete and Frimley Green Carnival, Collection Day Bagshot Waitrose; a local church coffee morning; Quiz night; Indian meal and the revenue from the 100 Club.
Our other income has come from the generosity of others and the support of followers of the charity. This has been in the form of money from an individual who has been sponsored walking the Wainwrights having now completed all 214; Xmas and birthday cards; money bequeathed to the charity from the collection at a funeral; Recycle4Charity recycling ink cartridges £900 over the last 10years; donation from our supporting local amateur drama group and donations from Farnborough and North Camp Lodge of Masons – which have named KatCanDo as one of their charities of the year for the second consecutive year.
We have also been grateful to the companies who continue to support our fundraising
- Barclay’s Bank provide £ for £ matching scheme for a nominated event of the year.
- Waitrose at Bagshot with their “Community Matters” scheme.
Under the guidance of consultants, cancer nurse specialists and medical advisors, KatCanDo has provided the following equipment and services between April 2022 – March 2023 totalling £12,026.25.
Christopher’s Hospice
- Syringe Driver
Frimley Park Hospital
- Ultrasound Probe Scanner
St. Michael’s Hospice
- 5 Syringe Drivers
Our courtyard garden in Frimley Park Hospital is now taking shape due to a few hard working volunteers from the Committee. The “KatCanDo Garden” is well used by patients, staff and relatives as an area to relax in.
The daffodils and tulips are in full bloom and give the garden so much colour and the children are enjoying our beach scene.
Unfortunately our Committee is now reduced to 11 members due to resignations and more recently to the sudden and unexpected death of Alan Mowat who was not only a Trustee but a key member of the KatCanDo team. He will be sadly missed by us all.
My thanks go out to all Trustees, Committee Members, family, friends and supporters who continue to support the charity, especially in these difficult times, to achieve its aims in making a difference to the lives of cancer patients.
Our commitment is a willingness to give our time and energy to something we believe in – Kate’s Legacy.
