Bag Packing (December 2014)

Another successful afternoon ‘bag packing’ for customers at Waitrose, Frimley was held on the Sunday just before Christmas in December 2014

Neoprobe Presentation (December 2014)

The Neoprobe Gamma Detection Unit was presented to the new Breast Unit at Frimley Park Hospital. The money for this was raised at the Charity Ball held at the Wentworth Club that was organised by Carol Wickes & Sarah Tuson of the BeFiit fitness organisation. Click here for more details.

Xmas Fayre (November 2014)

This year KatCanDo was selling cards, cakes and books at the Maltings Charity Xmas Fayre

10th Anniversary Ball (October 2014)

After last years success our 10th Anniversary Ball had a lot to live up to…and it did with over 180 people enjoying a fantastic evening of good food, great music and a lot of fun. We raised over £11,000 for the purchase of a portable Cystoscope for the Urology Department at Frimley Park Hospital. Thanks to all our guests and all those companies and individuals who supported the event through their generous donations.

Robert Felgate (October 2014)

Robert ran in the Great South Run in October raising funds for KatCanDo. A footballer and badminton player, not used to running, ran with / against? his mate Tony, Robert raised over £300. Thanks Robert for a great effort.

Sian Swift’s Decathalon of Fundraising Events (2014)

A great friend of Greg’s competed in 10 ‘triathalonesque’ events last year to celebrate KatCanDo’s 10 years and raise money in the process. She has competed all ten events including an Olympic distance triathlon in London and a 100 mile cycle ride. Find out more about this fantastic fundraising effort.

2013 -2014 Annual Report (August 2014)

A great year for fundraising and for the purchasing of several pieces of equipment and services for the support of cancer patients. We were supported by several companies this year through being ‘Charity Of The Year’ and staff matching schemes. Read the report by clicking here

Frimley Green Carnival (July 2014)

Another really enjoyable and successful day for the charity. The cake stall sold out, the tombola sold out and our entry in the procession ( The Court of King Arthur’ won the ‘Best Of The Rest’ award (with special thanks to Lin Galley, again, for providing the best costumes of the day). Thank you to all those who baked cakes for us, (bought the cakes) and entered into the fun of the day.

Farnham Bike Ride (July 2014)

Several hardy souls rode round the hilly roads of Farnham in aid of KatCanDo. They covered distances of 16, 25 and 50 miles. Special thanks to those who travelled down from London ( from Triland Metals) to support us (and enjoy a pint or two in a local pub in Farnham)

Charity Walk at Shalford (May 2014)

In celebration of our 10 years and the fact that in 2004 this walk was our first fundraising event. Everybody finished walk despite one or two taking a wrong turn!!!

Surrey Heath Show (May 2014)

Yet again another successful ‘fayre’ for the charity with our ever popular cake stall and tombola pulling in support and selling out.

Basingstoke Hospital – North Hampshire Medical Fund(April 2014)

KatCanDo has purchased a Light Box and Ankle & Knee support for the new Radiotherapy Unit. Both these items assist cancer patients when undergoing radiotherapy treatment. This unit was opened in May by Claire Balding. The unit has a glass panel displaying all the major contributors to this new unit, including KatCanDo. See photos of the opening ceremony and the equipment we purchased.

Brightlight Theatre Company (April 2014)

‘The Memory of Water’ – Another successful drama presentation from our local theatre group with some of the proceeds going to KatCanDo

The Bronte Legacy (March 2014)

Award winning singer Val Wiseman presented an uplifting and emotional show celebrating the lives and passions of the Brontes at the Baronial Hall, Pine Ridge Golf Club. The evening included many songs from her CD ‘Keeping The Flame Alive’ and received such comments as ‘A wonderful, fresh and entertaining tribute to the rich and heritage of the Brontes’ and ‘The singing was superb, dramatic and presented with a beautiful flourish’

Frimley Park Hopital (March 2014)

KatCanDo has agreed to furnish a relatives room which will be used by patients and visiting relatives so that they can meet in a more relaxed and inviting environment. This will be alongside the Respiratory Unit.

SC Johnson (March 2014)

Johnson Charity Trust gave a £25 bonus to all their staff to be given to their chosen charity. Consequently a cheque for £250 was presented to KatCanDo

Bridge Drive (February 2014)

Our second very successful Bridge Drive was held in Windlesham raising funds for KatCanDo. 80 players enjoyed 2 hours of competitive bridge with a break for tea accompanied by delicious cakes and sandwiches provided by KatCanDo and their ‘Friends’. Together, with £ for £ matching from Barclays Bank, over £1500 was raised. Thanks to Anne Brown for all her help.

Irwin Mitchell (February 2014)

Voted their ‘Charity of the Year’ in 2013 KatCanDo recently received a cheque for over £12,000 from Irwin Mitchell. This money was raised by staff through organising several fund -raising events throughout the year together with a donation from Irwin Mitchell

Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice – Cough Assist (January 2014)

The Cough Assisst E70 clears airway secretions by stimulating a real cough. This equipment redefines non-invasive secretion clearance to improve patient lives.

Sue Cullum,Lead Physiotherapist, said: “Many of our patients are unable to cough due to muscle weakness and fatigue. This can lead to chest infections and other complications. Where appropriate the Cough Assisst can provide an effective and gentle way of helping to clear the airways. The machine will be used to treat patients on the In Patient Unit and to support those who may benefit from its use in the community. We are very grateful to KatCanDo for funding this specialist equipment.”
